Two Birds No Stones
Dave Brendlinger and Joan Campbell met at a barn jam outside of Talent, OR where the first song they played together was Towne's Van Zandt's "If I Needed You." Shortly thereafter, they struck a musical partnership blending their unique styles. The name Jackalope Blue is an ode to both of their sons as it incorporates parts of each of their names.
Dave is multi-instrumentalist known for his folk, Americana, and bluegrass originals and covers. His guitar playing style blends the delicate and precise finger picking of a folk musician with the driving rhythms of traditional bluegrass guitar. He has collaborated and performed with bands and musicians that include Robbie Decosta, Waking Hazel, Almost Gentleman, Hot Copper Kettle, Bekkah McAlvage, and Twelve String Troubadours. Dave’s musical influences include John Prine, The Grateful Dead, and Bob Dylan.
Joan is a long-time student of the Sisters Americana Song Academy where she's learned songwriting from amazing contemporary artists like The Ballroom Thieves, Darlingside, Thunderstorm Artis, and Sara Hickman. She's played locally solo and previously with her duo Lil Sumpins. Joan's songwriting wheelhouse lies in the quirky and bittersweet with titles like "Prosthetic Heart" and "Wordsearch." Joan is also a Venue Manager at the Sisters Folk Festival, a house concert host with over 60 shows for touring artists, and a Board Member with the Ashland Folk Collective and the Southern Oregon Songwriters Association.
